I want to apologize for promising the Laundry Room Reveal but never delivering. It's almost done I promise!!!!! The reason why it is taking so long because I am decorating my first EVER wedding. The sweet bride (who is a good friend) is taking a chance on my DIY decorating skills. She is having a wedding THIS October and she has given me $500.00 to decorate her ceremony AND reception. I will tell you that I am not doing flowers. I am working with the florist so my $500 dollars doesn't include flowers. BUT…the only flowers she is having (as decor) two taller arrangements up front and a few small arrangements on the aisles. That is it. Did I mention that the guest list is 350 people? I am up for the challenge and I have my plan and I have been searching for deals to make it happen. After this wedding is over I will have an entire wedding week of posts of how I made it all happen “on the cheap”. Here is a preview of where she is having the reception:
This is the bistro area before you go into the reception. This will have little Bistro tables. The cost of the venue gets you table cloths (whew). Here is the where the actual reception happens:
ITs in an old theater in Kansas City. The old theater and all its glory is decor itself but my job is to make the centerpiece look good with the venue but match the theme of my friend's wedding.
I don't have a pic of the church but its your typical church. White and brown. I have a blank slate but am not allowed to hang anything on the walls. Time to improvise. I have some tricks up my sleeve. Her colors are brown, orange and green. This color palate do
esn't translate we
ll to old hollywood theater so only elements of that theme will show up in the reception. The ceremony is where most of my creativity will get to run wild. Here is a sneak peek:
This is not the only one I will use…there are more in my trunk.
There are also more of these
I have 40 of these…lots of trips to garage sales and thrift store.
I have 40 of these….yes 40 but I got them for a steal. More on that…
This was my favorite steal. I have 10 yards of it for $2.00 a yard.
So if you are wondering what I am up to…this is it…well, and finishing the laundry room.
Thanks for reading,

If anyone can do it we at The Ritz Cottage are certain you are the one who can!
Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Jennifer- I’m in Kansas City and have a wide variety of mason jars/small vases from my wedding you are more than welcome to borrow in October if you need them. I’m not sure of the exact count since I had a friend doing for me what you’re doing, but I know there’s 2 boxes of vases and jars in my basement now. Let me know if you need any!

I might be taking you up on that. Thank friend! It was good hearing from you!
