When we helped my friend make some upgrades to her house we tackled the bathroom. There are a lot of DIY projects we did to update the bathroom. Here is what it looked like before:
Now, if you are expecting a before and after picture, I want to prepare you that it’s not happening in this post. It will happen soon because we spent less than $500 and it was a major overhaul. I wanted to share with you a little detail that sometimes get missed on blog posts but yet, it’s an example of a reality of home improvement. We purchased a brand new bathroom vanity. The dimensions were perfect but when we put it in the space there was this huge gap between the vanity top and the wall. Since this vanity came with cabinet and sink top together we could not separate the two.
There will always be a little gap and you can fill it with a little caulk and it looks perfect. I know its hard to tell but the gap is so big that the caulk just falls right through. So, here is what you do. You can purchase this caulk saver.
You smoosh it in the gap.
Set it in there just below the vanity top or back splash:
Now you caulk and the caulk saver keeps the caulk in place.
Easy Peasy! Its the small details that finish a space! If this happens to you I hope it can help you problem solve!

This is the kind of tip I hope I can remember when the time comes to use it (and inevitably the time will come). Thanks for a helpful post. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
