I debated back and forth in my head what I wanted to do with the bathroom cabinet. I had 4 years to decide. Here has been the transition:
- Year one I was all about replacing it completely. As I used the cabinet I realized how good of a cabinet it was. It has tons of storage and nice deep drawers. Why change it if its not needed?
- Year 2, I really didn’t think about it much. We were knee-deep in the laundry room renovation and master bathroom renovation. In my head I was going to paint it.
- Year 3, I was decorating the rooms and I was deciding between painting it grey or navy. I went back and forth with plans.
- Year 4, I started appreciating the brown stain. Then I saw the picture below that has a wicker chair similar to my brown wood stained cabinet, and decided that it would stay the same.
After four years, I finally figured out what I didn’t like the cabinet. The knobs. Why did it take me a while? Because the knobs are great by themselves. They are this old-looking, vintage brass but they just didn’t pop against the cabinet. They would have looked awesome if I would have painted the cabinets grey or navy, but with the brown they were blending in too much. I think the black in the antique look in the knob was fighting with the black in the dark stain. So I decided to swap them out with something brushed nickel. Here is what it looked like before.
Not bad, but not great. Here is the cabinet after the switch.
It’s a subtle difference that the picture probably doesn’t show very well, but I like it better for sure.
Do you have any plans for the fourth of July? Do you have family coming in? I am kind of in awe that it’s already July! See ya on the 4th!
Thanks for reading,
