You Did What?

Last week we found out our front loading dryer wasn’t working. We called Samsung and it is $75 to for them to come out and look and then the additional cost of parts and repair. The dryer cylinder is not turning and everything else is fine. Most people say its a dryer belt which costs you the part ($15) to fix. If someone comes out it costs you $200. What do you do? My first instinct is to have someone fix it but if it goes out again we will have spent $400…just $50 short what we paid for it on Black Friday! I am all about the quick and easy fix with an item like this. Those repairmen could probably get alot of money out of me in situations like these. The Hub’s first instinct was different than mine. I came home to this:

Just in case your confused….yes, this is my dryer.

My stomach dropped. This is totally the Hub’s way of life. He took it apart, took pictures so he knows what goes where, and looked inside to find the problem. We did find that the belt was shredded to pieces. The parts are all in our third bedroom.

I hope he can put it back together. I will give him a chance. He is good about surprising me with what he can do. Has any one else come home to something like this?

I will let you know how it turns out. We have been waiting for the part for a week.

Thanks for reading,

  1. Your husband and I must be related. I did the very same thing with my brand new, never run dryer. I wanted to vent it out the side and no one seemed to know how to do it. He’ll get it back together – piece of cake :)

  2. We did the same thing with our Samsung tv. I called and was told our particular problem would be ~$400 to fix – I can get a new one at that price, so I googled the issue. After a little reading, my husband went to The Source, bought $3 in parts, soldered them in and presto – like new!
