Wanna Room Rehab?

Jennifer —  August 29, 2012 — 1 Comment

All of you readers have been on my heart lately.   Lately, I have gotten a few more followers and questions in my emails.  I am humbled and just thankful that I have readers besides my best friend, my mom, The Hubs and my mother-in-law.  I have been wanting to give back to you and there are a few ways that I have in mind.  At this point, my blog and projects are funded solely by me (well, the Hubs too).  I am not sponsored or promoting any products so, unfortunately, I do not have a $500 gift card from somewhere exciting or a cool product to give away.  Boo…I know, but I do have a few ways in mind for me to say “thank you”.

In the past year I have gotten 4 emails from readers I have never met before asking me to help me come up with ideas for a space in their home.  It has been the biggest honor of this entire blog experience.  I have  been invited (via pictures) into people’s homes to give input and what a blessing it has been, for me, to be asked to help.  Here are some of the moodboards and ideas I have done:

What Does this have to do with You?

I would love to help a reader, or two with one room/space of their home…for free.   This is not a contest.  This is really not a giveaway.  All you have to do is email me.  First come, first serve.

First Things First…

I am not a professional interior designer.  Think of me more as a neighbor or friend  who could give you suggestions/ideas.  I wont be the next “Design Star”  (but would love this winner to come and design a room for me). I am not as talented as Sherry from younghouselove or Nicole from Making It Lovely  (two girls who inspire me.).  I am just me and would love to help.

What You Would Get?:

  • A floor plan from floorplanner.com with a general space plan of furniture placement.
  • A moodboard of decor/furnishings
  • A product source list and DIY idea like this one here.  In this, I give you DIY options for some of the things in the moodboard.

note: just so there is no misunderstanding.  I will not be coming to your house but instead…emailing you rehab ideas

The Goal:

To inspire you in creating your own space.  My biggest DIY lesson learned is that you must have a plan for your space.  Real life room rehabs (opposed to the lucky few who get HGTV show room rehabs) happen over a period of time.  You save your pennies, you DIY, and you search for bargains.  If you don’t have a plan you could spend more than you need and not get what you want…which has happened to me.  My hope is to help you have a plan.  As you know, the plan’s for the room’s in my home take a year or two to fully be completed.  My living roomguest bathroom, and laundry room are examples.  The women I have helped have distinct style but just needed help molding it into a cohesive vision.  They took my ideas, filtered the ones they didn’t like, used the ones they did and in some cases, it helped them inspire their own ideas.

What do I Need from You?:

  • An email to iloverehabs@gmail.comwith the following things
    • Clear pictures of the space.  Take as many as you think I would need.  All angles of the room are helpful.
    • A sketch of your space with lengths of walls, windows, doors, nooks, and other fixtures in the room (ex:  fireplace, island, hallway, bannister ).  Don’t worry about scale or perfection, just draw it out as best you can.
    • A brief description of your style, colors you like or don’t like, your needs in this space, and how you want to use the space.

What is the Catch?

Nothing.  Its free. It’s a “thank you for reading” from me. I don’t need any personal information and I will not publish any.   My hope is that you would be okay with me blogging about your moodboard which would include me posting a few of your pictures and my moodboard.

(note:  I won’t be posting any information about you…just your name, a summary of your space needs and style.  Make sure your pictures don’t show anything that you don’t want the blog world to see, like an address or location.)

You also don’t have to be a reader or a follower.  If you stumble upon this post because someone told you.  Feel free to check it out and email me!

I honestly wish I could do more, but some of my favorite gifts in life is when someone gives me their time.  I would love to give you some of mine.

Thanks for reading,

Jennifer
