Seven years ago today, this picture best captures how I felt.
Eight years ago, in August, I went on my first date with this guy.
The next May (literally 9 months later) I got a letter from him that included a map, a packing list, and instructions to drive to Kansas City. I left the next day where I stayed the night with his parents. The Hubs was nowhere to be found, except for the note he left for me in the room where I was sleeping. His mom woke me up the next morning at 4am to inform me I would be getting on a plane in 2 hours. She dropped me off at the airport and I didn’t know my destination until she gave me my ticket. By myself, I boarded a plane with another letter in my hand…given to me right before I got on the plane. The letter, from the Hubs, explained what I was to do when I got off the plane when I arrived in New York City. Yes, the hubs sent me on a scavenger hunt that started in the Ozarks of Missouri and ended in Central Park in NYC. Five Hours later…I was engaged.
Some day I will tell you the full story of my engagement. The Hubs swung for the fence and hit a home run in planning our engagement. His plan all was mapped out on this piece of paper while sitting at a Barnes and Noble. I framed it for some art in our guest bedroom.
The wedding date was set for December 10th. One week later we found out The Hubs’ father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We moved the wedding up so he could be there and actually participate. This was the best decision. He would have been too sick in December.
After a whirlwind of a summer of dealing with cancer, directing a sports camp, and planning a wedding, we got married 7 years ago today.
The wedding seems like ages ago but I woke up today not believing that 7 years went by so fast. I am so thankful to be married to someone who cares about me so much. I am praying for many more fun years and adventures in our future!
No rehabs to share today…I am going on a date with the Hubs. More to come on my laundry room soon!
