The title to this post is probably a little bit leading. Lee and I are renting for 6 months in our new city. Our new city is Wichita Kansas (by the way). We came and looked for houses and we just couldn”t commit. I didn”t want to feel rushed. I don”t need to own a home right now. Don”t get me wrong I want to own a home right now but its not the smart thing to do. I know nothing of this city. I need to be here to figure out where I want to settle. Wait a minute, I wrote that last sentence like a single person. Correction: WE need to be here to figure out where WE want to settle. Since we don”t have an bearing of the city, Lee and I often go out and look at houses. Its fun. I look at Trulia and Zillow every day, but I am completely settled to be a renter. Here is a house that we saw when we were looking for houses.
This is not for sale but we just laughed. They can”t even see out their windows. (Which, the be honest, creeps me out a little) I love the red door. Anyway, the driving around is for fun. We are not really looking until about 6 months…maybe more. So what will my renovation heart do? Well, I might keep you up to date on what my renovating husband is doing. That is what he does full time. Unlike the title suggests….there will be no rental renovations. I plan on trying out some projects (sewing, home decor, clothing) that I have had in my head for a while but have not had time since I always have a paint brush or a drill in my hand. Here are a few:
I LOVE, LOVE the Sewing Blog Merricksart.com I would love to learn to refashion old clothes. I would also like to learn to hem and take in my own clothes.
I have some Jewelry that I can”t wait to make. I have a pinterest board that I have been wanting to try for a while now. Check it out Here.
I do live in a little rental that is a GREAT rental and I love my landlord. It is old and needs some updating but all that goes away ( i have learned) when you get your stuff in place. Now I am understanding the value of staging. I am excited at trying my hand at DIYing a crosstich pillow. My inspiration are these Jonathan Adler . I WILL NOT recreate his. That would not be right, they are his. I want to design my own. My mom is probably falling out of her seat right now. Get up mom. I have so many memories of my mom sitting in the same spot on our couch (under a lamp) crosstiching pillows and pictures. The crazy thing is her pictures were HUGE and just as detailed (if not more) than the Jonathan Adler pillows. All that to say, I consider myself channeling my inner Jenny not my inner Jonathan. I also would like to try a smaller (much much smaller version) of this art piece from Pier 1. I don”t think I will do birds, but something simple. Any ideas? I am not sure how yet, but its worth a try.
I don”t have a full time job. I do have a part time job, working from home so that will take some of my time as well.
There are more important things that have to do with life taking up time. I am always slow to share those, but if I feel they are appropriate. I will.
Have a Great Weekend!
